A few years after graduating from optometry school, I wanted to broaden my horizons, and explore new techniques and advances in the field. HAC's M.Optom program looked like the perfect opportunity to do just that: it offered many unique practical experiences that clinicians don’t generally encounter in their day-to-day work.
I am especially grateful to the M.Optom faculty members; especially the program director, Dr. Liat Gantz, who was always there to listen and assist with any question or request. Other lecturers were also very personable, approachable and patient, and were happy to repeat explanations as often as necessary in order to ensure that everyone understood the material.
I would recommend starting the M.Optom program after a few years of practical experience: familiarize yourselves first with the profession and then come back and enrich your knowledge of issues and techniques that are relevant in specific situations.
During your studies, try to take advantage of all available options, attending as many clinics, workshops and lectures as you can. Also, try to attend as many extra clinics as possible, meeting various types of patients.
