I came across optometry studies by chance. I started studying criminology but quickly realized that it was not the field in which I wanted to develop a career. While looking for a new direction, I ran into an optometry student from Hadassah Academic College. We talked about the field in general and the studies in particular. She invited me to visit the college to learn about the program for myself. One week later, after submitting my application papers and passing the interview, I began my B.Optom studies at Hadassah Academic College.
After graduation, I worked as an optometrist in a hospital, laser clinic, optical stores and the military. I then started my M.Optom studies, and during the course of my studies, I opened my own clinic.
The M.Optom program was convenient and as well as engaging. Lessons took place once a week, so the program suited my work schedule. I was able to run the optical, continue my work in the military and the hospital, and still devote quality time to my family.
The lecturers and the academic staff were amazing! They personally knew each and every student, and are caring and encouraging throughout the studies. They seemed to be personally invested in our professional advancement.
My recommendation to anyone considering an academic degree is to research the potential employment opportunities, fields of specialization, and how you can make the most out of your studies to benefit your career path.
