The internationally unique Social Design Network (SDN), initiated by the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design and Hadassah Academic College Israel was launched in 2020.
The scheme involves ten prestigious partner universities sharing knowledge and training socially sensitive designers and creative professionals by shared research, projects and courses, which activity is essential in the integration of social design into strategies tackling social and ecological problems.
The first hybrid event of this new and innovative initiative takes place at MOME as a part of the Budapest Design Week 2021 in the form of an international symposium and exhibition. The program consists of exciting lectures, roundtable discussions and an international student exhibit highlighting the importance of social design and its opportunities in the future.
October 13-22th 2021
The Social Design Network’s new initiative, the ‘Social Futures’ exhibition presents selected student projects and concepts developed by the institutions of the founding partners of the Social Design Network. This international selection of works features projects that respond to wider social issues, but are also applicable for life during and after a global pandemic. As is the temporal nature of design, we work in the present, aim for the future and reflect on the past.
The exhibition will be available online after the 13th of October on the following website.
October 14th_ Thursday_ 10 am - 4 pm CET
As global shifts affected our surroundings, turned our normals upside down, each discipline is seeking new paradigms. Social design is also trying to reinvent itself, boost new solutions, and step out of its comfort zone. The lecturers are introducing social design practices of their institutions and reveal their attempts to re-interpret social design in an ever-changing future world.
