The Master’s of Optometry program, in collaboration with the International office at HAC hosted two international guests this past Tuesday (November 29th).

Prof. Mitchel Scheiman, director of graduate studies at Salus University (USA) and a world renown expert in binocular vision delivered an academic lunch lecture on the evidence basis of treatments of intermittent exotropia to Bachelor’s and Master’s of optometry students, international students, and optometrists from the community. In addition, Prof. Scheiman taught a mini-course on the foundations of research to researchers in the health fields which was thoroughly enjoyed by HAC faculty. According to Prof. Scheiman “the only way our profession can grow is through evidence-based practice”.

Prof. Simon Barnard (UK), world renown lecturer on optometry taught part of the Master’s of Optometry course on pediatric optometry to M.Optom. students and international students in a hybrid format with frontal lectures that were simultaneously presented on zoom. Past graduates of the MOptom students “stay tuned” and are invited to join these courses as well.

At the end of the day, Prof. Barnard held a pediatric optometry workshop together with Dr. Jonathan Levine (MD), Mrs. Yehudita Gorelik and Mrs. Judith Wilks.
