Detailed information about visas can be found on the websites of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Israeli mission in your home country. These are updated from time to time. You may contact the Exchange Coordinator in the International Office with any questions (tomco@hac.ac.il).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs requires that all international students obtain an A/2 student visa through an Israeli embassy or consulate abroad before travelling to Israel. This multiple-entry visa is valid for up to 12 months and can be extended. A valid passport for the entire duration of the visa is required. The A/2 visa does not allow employment in Israel.
The application process can take over a month so students should contact the nearest Israeli consulate or embassy well in advance to clarify what documents are required. Generally, students are asked to submit their acceptance letter to Hadassah Academic College.
Israeli citizens, children of Israeli parents, and those entitled to immigrate to Israel under the Law of Return should contact the nearest Israeli mission for pertinent information.
HAC requires all incoming students to secure their own health insurance prior to their arrival. For more information please write to yaelhi@hac.ac.il
Sites such as Expatistan or Numbeo can help you estimate the cost of your stay in Jerusalem. Student discounts are available: a student pass provides a discount on public transportation and museums, cinemas, theaters, concert halls and university gyms also offer a discounted student rate. The college cafeteria offers affordable meals and other food costs can be reduced by shopping at one of the nearby markets. iTravelJerusalem offers many useful tips on ways to save money in the city.
