Hadassah Academic College is happy to offer applicants a new program in a field that is in demand and full of challenge and personal fulfillment - Bachelor of Management of Health Systems (B.A. in Management of Health Systems). The health system in Israel offers a wide range of occupations, places of service and areas of activity. A bit about the studies in the Department of Management of Health Systems

During the undergraduate studies in Management of Health Systems, students will acquire the knowledge required for future professions as managers and employees in the Israeli health system in general and in Jerusalem and its surroundings in particular.

The program will prepare students to manage service, marketing, finances, human resources, and day-to-day management of the health organization in which they work: clinic, institute, health fund, hospital, regulation and others.

Students will become familiar with management principles of health systems in Israel and around the world. As part of the program, they will identify and study the various considerations of health decision makers at the various levels (government, health funds, health organizations and social organizations) while taking into account and getting to know systemic considerations as well as budget planning and management of the various organizations.

During their studies, students in the Department of Management of Health Systems systems will receive a broad picture that presents the variety of considerations of decision makers who deal with health systems management on a daily basis. Their goal is to improve the quality of medicine, patient satisfaction in the Israeli health system and the economic efficiency of their organizations and health systems.

As part of the studies in the Department of Management of Health Systems, we will provide students with basic management tools and introduce them to most of the departments in the health market, their areas of practice, expertise, main contribution to the health system and the integration of all the players in this market working for the good of the public.

The studies in the Department of Management of Health Systems will open up for students a variety of career options in a wide field that has been growing and developing in the last decade and is becoming more and more sought after.

The curriculum in the Department of Management of Health Systems is offered to applicants who see their future in the health system, to health professionals seeking to enrich their education with managerial skills and tools and to health care workers and managers interested in or required to obtain a bachelor's degree.

Upon graduation, graduates of the Management of Health Systems Program at Hadassah Academic College will have the knowledge required to manage health organizations at various levels in the public and private sectors, and will do so at the highest professional level required of managers in a field as complex as health systems management.

The graduates will acquire a profession and knowledge in great demand and of growing relevance in the labor market in Israel in general, and in Jerusalem and its surroundings in particular.

In addition, graduates will then be able to pursue their postgraduate studies.

Studies in the department

The bachelor's degree program in Management of Health Systems provides students with an education in the general field of management along with in-depth and extensive knowledge of the special and unique issues of the health system in Israel, which is complex and multidimensional. Accordingly, the program consists of a combination of courses in general management science and courses in the field of health management.

The courses are divided into three main groups - 

Infrastructure studies that aim to provide students with a background and tools for learning the field of management at an academic level. Some examples include: Mathematics, Statistics, Academic Literacy in Health and Computer Applications.
Basic studies in management that provide students with knowledge and skills in the subjects required of a manager in any field. These include courses in: Economics, Psychology, Accounting, Information Systems, Management, Finance, Research Methods, Organizational Behavior.

Core studies in health systems management provide the students and graduates of the program with knowledge, education and tools to understand and deal with the challenges, complexity and uniqueness of management in the health system and health services in Israel.

Elective courses - the student will choose 3 courses, one course from each of the following three groups:
Group 1: Selected issues in health policy, mental health management, health technology management
Group 2: Emergency and disaster management, population aging and elderly care management, health promotion and preventive medicine.
Group 3: Management of innovation and entrepreneurship in medicine, management and leadership in the health system, negotiations and mediation in the field of health.

In the core studies in the Management of Health Systems (compulsory and elective) and in the basic studies in relevant management, attention will be paid to the uniqueness of the health system in Jerusalem and the surrounding area. The program also includes a unique compulsory course dedicated entirely to the uniqueness and complexity of the health system in Jerusalem and its surroundings.

Subjects include: Introduction to Medicine, Introduction to Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Sociology, Health System in Israel, Health Systems in the World, Unique Compulsory Course on Health System in Jerusalem and its Surroundings, HMO Management, Hospital Management, Human Resource Management in Health, Marketing and Advertising in Health, Management of information systems in health, principles in health economics, law in health, assimilation of quality of service in the health system, risk management in medicine, communication and patient-caregiver relations, issues of insurance and health care, economic assessments in medicine, pricing and budgeting in health, community health issues, a seminar in health, a final project in health and elective courses.

Study days

The curriculum will be spread over three academic years, six semesters, each semester will last 14 weeks, each semester at least three study days. The preparation of the thesis and the final project will be at other times according to the student's schedules.

The meetings with the supervisors for these projects will be coordinated between the student and the supervisor.
