The field of medical laboratories has experienced a significant scientific and technological break-through in recent years. Scientific developments in diverse areas of biology and medicine have naturally led to advances in the diagnosis of various diseases.
This reality requires medical laboratory workers across the country to keep abreast of new developments, study and develop continuously in order to maintain a high professional level. The graduate program in Medical Laboratory Sciences at the Hadassah Academic College is the only program of its kind in Israel, and it has been designed especially for professionals in medical laboratories.
The operation and management of medical laboratories has become a highly scientific and technological profession which requires a deep understanding of processes, familiarity with the use of complex diagnostic equipment, a broad and systematic approach, and the ability to manage advanced quality systems. The graduate program in Medical Laboratory Sciences is the first structured framework in which these subjects are addressed.
The program is designed to expand the knowledge acquired by students during their first degree. It includes a wide variety of courses that present cutting-edge research and scientific and technological innovations that pertain to medical laboratories. Having broadened their expertise during the program, graduates enjoy a considerable advantage in the job market.
Goals of the Program
The program prepares students for the advanced world of medical laboratories by providing them with a broad scientific foundation, exposing them to scientific and medical innovations, training them in efficient management strategies and introducing them to fields of research.
As part of the program, students take courses from various clinical fields which offer advanced scientific knowledge as well as an understanding of diverse diagnostic methods developed in recent years to identify and diagnose various diseases.
In addition to the scientific and technological aspects of the program, students acquire general managerial skills with emphasis on issues relevant to lab work in order to prepare them for management positions as senior lab workers, team leaders, etc.
The Israeli Council for Higher Education has authorized the opening of the program, and the awarding of the degree is conditional on the program’s certification.
