One important aspect of optometric treatment is developing and improving visual skills and abilities; improving visual comfort, ease, and efficiency; and modifying visual processing or interpretation of visual information. These can be achieved by vision therapy. This course covers the basics of diagnosis, treatment, and management of binocular vision anomalies including convergence insufficiency/excess, accommodative insufficiency/excess/infacility/ ill-sustained, and more.

Dr. Rachel Eichler has directed the vision therapy clinics at the Hadassah Academic College since 1997. She has received many awards for excellence in teaching and is involved in pedagogical research. Dr. Eichler was trained as an optometrist in the State University of New York College of Optometry. She is a senior lecturer and has been an independent practitioner with over 25 years of experience.
Guest lectures will be given by Prof. Mitchell Scheiman, Dean of research, Director of Graduate Studies, and Professor at Salus university. Prof. Scheiman has spent over 25 years researching binocular vision disorders, with over 200 research manuscripts and four textbooks. He is world-renowned for his work as Study Chair of the Convergence Insufficiency Treatment Trial, and the subsequent CITT-ART study. His research currently focuses on diagnosis and treatment of concussion-related vision disorders. He specializes in pediatric optometry, binocular vision, and vision therapy. Prof. Scheiman is a Diplomate and Fellow in Binocular Vision, Perception and Pediatric Optometry in the American Academy of Optometry, and a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
