A key to the rehabilitation of post-traumatic patients or those who have sustained a brain injury is the resumption of daily life. The initial examination includes visual acuity, oculomotor functions, pupils and visual fields. Double vision is treated with optical solutions such as partial occlusion or prisms, and visual acuity may be improved with spectacles. If a visual dysfunction is diagnosed, patients are enrolled in an individually tailored weekly visual therapy program which includes classical aids and state-of-the art computerized programs.
